Turning 1 dollar into 2

Turning 1 dollar into 2 is far easier than 0 into 1.

And yet, folk are still focusing on that 0 to one.

Yesterday I broke down the simple thought process and system to craft a compelling upsell that increases the AoV of each customer coming through.

Today I want to build on that and talk about how to craft a decent upsell page.

This is the basic flow I've used to help convert anywhere between 10% and 15% of customers to an upsell immediately.

Which, depending on your offer and markering, could easily be an extra couple of hundred bucks alone every day without changing much else.

Oh, and if you want the full template (and the Custom GPT I built to create the page for you), you can get them in GM+ here.

The basic flow for effective upsell pages is simple.

You have to capitalise on the feelings they have right now, and encourage more forward momentum.

Here's how that plays out in the template from a high level.

------------

First, thank them for the purchase they just made. It's only polite.

Next, get them excited about the outcome the first product they bought will enable for them. Remind them of what the new reality will be and get them to picture it.

That new reality is desirable, but it's not without problems. They'll be one step closer to their desired end state, but, there are now new problems.

Explain what the new issues they'll face are.

Next, say you've seen it before and you've created something to help them overcome those new problems. Explain what the solution is.

Get them to picture how this will further help them in their new reality.

Give them all of the details of the offer, including price, what's included, how it works etc.

Then you close with the offer itself. Mention the savings, potential gains etc. and hit them with the CTA to add it to their order.

----------

I've found this is the most effective way to improve your upsell take rate.

A lot of people will still ignore it. BUt, if you can get a decent number of people to buy, it could mean hundreds of dollars extra per day and thousands extra per month just by implementing a better format.

Also, if you're looking for help with your growth, hit reply and le tme know as I'm taking on a few more people. There's a chap I bought a course form a couple of years ago. Big name in the content marketing space, someone you'll likely know the name of. Back then, I paid $2k for this course (no regrets, it was good). Today I got an email from him with his Black Friday...

This morning I was analysing a quiz funnel for GM+. Decent ad. Simple flow. Looks clean on the surface. But there’s one issue that’ll kill his results completely… and a lot of people are making the same mistake without realising. He built a funnel that prioritises quantity, not quality. Here’s what I mean. The ad attracts the wrong crowd His whole front-end message is “grab this free thing”. Cheap clicks. Big volume. But it drags in the exact people who never buy anything. The freebie crowd...
