500+ new readers

Yo!

So last week I set myself a challenge to launch another eBook on the Kindle store under a pen name (I've shared all of the BTS details and agents I built for this in GM+ which you can get here).

To put it bluntly, I'm super annoyed by the results.

The last 3 books I launched on Kindle, I managed to get to #1 op the Free Book charts within the first 5 days of launching.

And, despite moving over 500 books on this promo...

... we peaked at #12 in our target category.

It's annoying cause I can't now market this as a "bestseller".

Anyway, while the Easter Break made my marketing a little less effective, this whole thing opened the door to a new opportunity which could, in my opinion, become a million-dollar+ business.

To get this book to #615 on the Kindle Free rankings, I had to leverage people with existing audiences.

There's a lot of folk out there with audiences of readers who will promo your book to them for a fee. Those fees range wildly.

I've seen everything from...

  • $5.99 (this guy was weirdly one of the best promoters)
  • $20-$30 (the majority of promoters sit here)
  • $3k+ for the real big boys out there

I spent maybe $100 across 7 promoters for this campaign, pulling from the first two tiers.

I know from experience that if you can hit around 100+ books per day, you can rank in the top 10, usually #1 if you pick the categories right.

Anyway, out of those 7 promoters, here's what I found...

  • All of them had very outdated websites (some look like they're still in 2005)
  • 2 of the 7 sent me an update email with a link to the promo, and confirmation it went live (how can you not confirm the order?)
  • All but 1 redirected to a simple paypal payment link page for the payment, that final one was on Fiverr.
  • An 8th one I couldn't even finish the payment as it was so convoluted and broken.

It all felt... amateurish.

It was torture trying to get this stuff organised and paid for. Way harder than it needed to be.

And it kinda showed me why one fella can charge $3k+ while everyone else is scratching around for $20 payments.

He's treating it as a real business, everyone else has this outdated niche hobby approach.

Now, there's loads of people out there who want help promoting their books.

They want a better service than the guys I struggled to lock in...

... but they can't afford the $3k plus for the big players.

Massive gap with huge potential.

So, my little publishing experiment has unearthed something of an opportunity which I am now pursuing (along with publishing more of my own books as well).

I'll share more about what I'm building in time, but what I wanted to really highlight was how just taking action will help you find better paths forward.

A lot of people come to me and tell me they don't know what to build, what they should be doing, or something similar.

And they sit in front of their laptop hoping some sort of divine intervention is gonna hit them for their next biz idea.

It don't work like that.

Get out there and start playing around in the industries you like.

Become a customer and start putting real money down into various systems and solutions that already exist.

It won't be long before you find the friction points there. Friction points you can solve, monetise, and scale.

I'll share more of the high-level stuff as I build out the new biz here in email. But if you want the full breakdown, BTS highlights, and also all of the AI Agents I build to help me create this and new offers, join us in GM+ here.

Speak soon,
