Is the 2k course dead?

Yo!

Saw a post from a chap the other day saying the days of selling information as a $2k course are long gone.

And I reckon he's right.

Look, information and teaching ain't going nowhere. But they are changing.

Courses used to be the only way to get assistance from an expert in the field - so you could charge a premium.

The issue is that AI can summarise about 90% of the courses out there in 90 seconds for $20 / month.

The value of information alone has been drastically reduced.

I've seen some people pivot to sell what should be high-ticket as a low-ticket offer - and it works well.

But that leaves a hole in the "what should I sell for a profit" section.

Without a HTO, you're gonna find yourself stuck on the low-ticket hamster wheel of $5 profit per person.

And that ain't a fun place to be.

So, if info alone isn't enough, what's the new high-ticket play?

The new way to profit online...

Look, the info within courses is always gonna be needed. People have prpoblems, and they want them solved, right?

But, you need to change the way you're delivering those solutions.

In the last 2 years I've bought 0 high-ticket courses.

I have, however, joined several communities.

And that's where I think the future of high-ticket is.

Communities can still house your high-ticket courses enabling the normal DIY course approach.

But, they also have that community aspect for things like...

  • Peer support, feedback, and advice
  • Access to the expert for quick hints, tips, and guidance

It's supercharging the course approach with real-time feedback and assistance.

Nothing worse than buying a course and getting no help if you get stuck. Communities solve this.

But, this still ain't enough in my opinion.

We can go further and offer more value.

The smartest communities out there are building custom AI agents based on the leader's expertise.

These are replacing templates and allowing people to get the end result in a fraction of the time.

You end up with a nice little combination for your audience when you combine these.

  1. Community-hosted courses for learning on your own time
  2. Community-based feedback for real-time assistance
  3. Expert created AI to speed creation of assets or guidance

I know a few people who ar epulling mid 5-figure or even 6-figure months from communities.

They're either using the community as a way to drive most of that profit, or as a feeder to their DFY agency style services.

Both work as a model.

But both rely on communities.

What's your thought on this?

Are communities the new email list? Or are they a templrary flash in the pan?

P.S - My friend Niluka has something that also aims to build community with founders.

Niluka runs the ImagineThat newsletter, which helps online founders and solopreneurs in their first few years who want more of a community around them.

Each week, Niluka shares practical insights, lessons and tips to help you grow your business - plus info on upcoming events and masterclasses in the founder’s networking club.

No fluff. Just bite-sized info, community and opportunities to level up, together.

I’m putting together a series of expert interviews on YouTube + inside my private community. The whole point is to make you look good, build your authority, and drive some sales back your way. Your time investment? About 2 hours. What you get? An evergreen YouTube video, a paid masterclass, ongoing commissions, and positioning as an expert. I’ll handle all the editing, sales, and promotion materials. You just have to turn up, share your wisdom, then copy and paste some promo stuff. If you’d...

I was watching a video the other day from someone in GM+ on what it takes to sell a company/offer for 7-figures+. One of the key lessons was not being reliant on one source of traffic or acquisition. The reason being, that leaves your business at huge risk. If that acquisition stream dries up, you’re Donald Ducked. And I’m seeing it in real time right now. Last month Meta rolled out the final stages of their Andromeda update which relies more heavily on AI learning to target ads. And it’s...
