My #1 goal for the year

Just before Christmas I was on a call with an 8-figure entrepreneur.

It was the first call so we did the whole "get to know you thing" and we kicked it off talking about our backgrounds — how we started, the choices we made, and the results that followed.

There was a stark difference between the two of us. A difference that's helping me form the goals I have for 2025.

I shared how I've been in the game for ~12 years.

And, over that time I've kinda let my interests dictate what I'm doing and working on.

The result?

Multiple businesses started, work across several niches, built good experience and abilities across several disciplines.

It sounds impressive. And honestly, financially I've done pretty well out of the whole thing, but I also shared the hard truth.

A lot of the people I started out with, was friendly with, and exchanged messages with back when I was starting out took a different path.

They picked one thing and stuck with it.

Now? They’re way ahead of me in terms of business size, revenue, and the networks they can lean on for support and assistance.

When I said that, he smiled.

He told me he’s been one of those people.

Ten years ago, he had an idea and decided to go all in on it. One thing. No distractions.

Now, he runs an 8-figure company which he maintains and grows in just a few hours per week.

It got me thinking about my own plans and how I could catch up to the people I started with who left me behind.

For 2024, my goal is to cut out the distractions and focus on one thing for the year.

It’s time to catch up.

To make sure I stick to it, I’ve been working with the folks in GM+ to build a simple planning sheet that...

  1. Maps out the year's goal
  2. Helps understand WHY that goal is important to you (to keep you on track)
  3. Plans the high-level actions needed to get the result you're shooting for

And of course, the community is there to help keep users accountable.

It’s already helping me clearly define my goals, keep things realistic, and stay accountable to the actions I need to take.

But this sheet isn't just for me.

I'm sharing it within everyone in GM+ to plan out their year and build a simple plan to help them hit their goals.

In January, we’re kicking things off by building yearly plans, setting the right goals, and keeping each other accountable.

If you’re tired of spinning your wheels and want 2025 to be the year you finally hit your goals, you should join us.

P.S. Part of my plan is to go upmarket with my offers and audience, which means higher prices.

In January, I'll be running the first test of a price increase with GM+. So, if you want to lock in the current price, make sure you join in the next few days.

First off, Happy New Year! I love New Year. Fresh starts, setting big plans, all of that (if you want help planning your 2025, make sure you join GM+ before the price increases in a few days). My wife and I also love going out NYE cause there's no expectations beyond having a good time. Full disclosure, I'm writing this email in advance as I'm definitely not trying to do some work on New Year's Day. Last year we booked some spots at the Natural History Museum in London and rang in the new...

Happy New Year's Eve! A quick one today with a little advice I've been building into the new yearly planning sheet within GM+ (you can join us in planning your year here). When it comes to making plans that will actually help you grow your business, there's a step most people overlook. A step that, when overlooked, leads to crappy goals that detract from your life instead of adding to it. The step is simple. You just have to ask WHY a goal is important. Here's what I mean. A few years back I...

“We are kept from our goal not by obstacles but by a clear path to a lesser goal.” This quote is probably from some great thinker, but I know of it through a subscriber who responded to yesterday's email. They sent me their thoughts and questions around staying the course and building towards one big thing instead of pursuing multiple smaller (and often safer) bets. We ended on the thought that a lot of the time, it's all about belief. Believing in what you're working on enough to feel...
