I was chatting with a client the other day about tweaking their front-end offers.
They know I’ve been running a lot of AI-based front-end tests, so they asked what’s working and what’s not so we could improve their system.

Here’s what I told him…
Yes, AI-based offers sell.
If the positioning is right, they sell very well. But if you set them up wrong, you leave a tonne of money on the table.
Let me show you.
I decided to test running Custom GPTs as front-end offers.
Took my $1 Product trainings, wrapped them into a GPT, put up a simple checkout, and anyone who bought gets the link.
Easy, right?
It sold like mad.
Small profit.
Great volume.
We’re at over 200 known uses…and based on my stats, closer to 300.
Sounds amazing, right?
But it ain't.
Because this test exposed two huge problems that every founder needs to understand right now with selling Custom GPTs.
Problem 1 AI killed my data (and my follow-up)
When you sell a Custom GPT as a link… that’s all you get... a payment in return for that link.
I couldn’t see:
- who used it
- what they typed
- what problems they actually have
- where they got stuck
- what they wanted to achieve
- how they applied the model
- whether they’d be a good-fit client
In other words...
It made sales, but it gave me zero insight into my audience.
And without insight, you can’t...
- follow up intelligently
- segment buyers
- personalise offers
- spot buying signals
- fix your messaging
- identify who’s serious vs who’s tyre-kicking
AI saved them time, but robbed me of the data I need to scale.
Problem 2... Almost nobody took action
When I followed up manually, everyone said the same thing...
“Loved the output… haven’t actually done it yet.”
Of course they haven’t.
AI can generate a map in seconds.
But it cannot create momentum.
An AI output doesn'tfeel like it's real. It's low value, easy to ignore or "come back to". Essentially, easy to put off.
And trust, the only thing that converts high-ticket right now, is built on results. If people buy your stuff but don't get some form of result, it's not gonna go anywhere else.
So the AI delivered information instantly… but it created zero transformation.
No transformation = no trust.
No trust = no repeat business.
I knew this wasn;t gonna be good enough so I've been playing around with some stuff. Here's what I've learned, and what I told the client.
AI shouldn’t be the thing you give to customers.
AI should be the thing you use to get customers a result faster.
Because the moment you hand someone an AI agent, it becomes a novelty...
- they click around
- they skim the output
- they never implement it
- and no result = no trust
But when you keep the AI inside your business, everything changes.
It becomes an engine that accelerates your delivery. In my case...
- I collect their inputs
- I see their pain points
- I see their goals
- I can personalise follow-up
- I can validate the output
- I can ensure it’s accurate
- I can help them implement
- And I can engineer an actual win for them
And results are what build trust not AI outputs.
So instead of selling access to a tool, I now use the tool to create AI-supported, DFY front-end offers.
They get the fast win.
I keep full visibility.
And I can identify the people who are a perfect fit for the back end.
It’s the difference between a $5 novelty, and a system that prints predictable revenue.
Make the front end fast.
Make the back end inevitable.
That’s the game now.
