Why build something like GM+ / GMM?

Yo

I get asked a lot why I built GM+ and GMM as communities, instead of just selling $2k courses, running high-ticket coaching, or going all-in on an agency model.

Honestly? It came down to three things…

… impact
… leverage
… and where the world is going

I’ll explain all of this in detail here - but if you wanna see what’s in both of these tiers of the community, here’s the details.

Now, onto the breakdown.

1. Why I didn’t choose the agency route (and would caution you against it)

I’ve scaled agencies before. I know how to make them work.

I turned my old freelancing biz into an agency and made good money while counting brands like HubSpot, Febreze, and Singtel as clients. And I’ve helped scale a couple of client agencies as well.

They have been, for a long time, an easy way to make $1M/ year revenue, cause selling a DFY service on your expertise appealed to high revenue brands.

But a lot of agencies I know are struggling because things are shifting, fast.

The big shift?

AI and costs. And these 2 things are linked.

Brands of all sizes are being asked to cut costs and prove why they’re spending on things that AI could do cheaper.

The result is a harder time selling services. The client brands are either taking it in house with AI, or won’t pay the premiums they used to.

And when most agencies run on a 20-30% profit margin, it puts them in a difficult spot.

I think the future of agencies is gonna be to slash headcount and leverage AI heavily themselves.

They’re gonna be more about having an expert who trains AI’s the clients can use.

The costs will be cheaper, but the margins will be much better.

Add in ongoing support and it sounds a lot like a community right ;)

That’s why I’ve spent the last two years building custom AI agents, and training others how to use them, so I could integrate that tech directly into GM+ and GMM.

Hell, my custom GPTs have helped members add thousands of dollars in revenue to their businesses.

I also realised I prefer working with people, not just delivering one-off assets. Agencies are often “wham bam, thank you ma’am.” That’s never been me. I want collaboration, not just between me and you, but between members learning from each other.

2. Why I didn’t go all-in on $2k courses

For years, the “$2k course” was the default online model. I’ve sold them myself and scaled 1 $2k course to $2.4M in revenue with 60% margins.

In fact, the core training inside GM+ used to sell for $2k on its own.

But here’s the problem…

Courses are a transaction, not a transformation.

You buy it, you get the information, and then… you’re left to figure it all out yourself.

GM+ was built to replace that.

You get the same frameworks, systems, and playbooks as a $2k course, but layered with:

  • Live calls where we solve problems in real time
  • Ongoing support so you don’t get stuck
  • A community of peers walking the same path

All for a much more accessible price.

Hell, it’d take almost two years of GM+ membership to spend what you’d drop on a single $2k course.

But you get ongoing support and an insight into the changing world of marketing to know what’s working now.

Better results, more support, higher leverage, for less money.

3. Why not focus on high ticket 1:1 coaching?

For some people, a $2k course isn’t enough.

They need a personalised scaling plan, peer-level strategy, and deep-dive thinking to hit $50k–$100k+ months.

I helped people with this sort of stuff on a 1:1 basis for years with the goal to first hit consistent $1k days, then add more juice to that system whilst also removing yourself from the day-to-day.

And let’s get selfish about this for a second.

That 1:1 has a hard limit on it.

You could serve a maximum of 30 people (or at least, that’s where I’d top out) with that.

If each gets a 1 hour call per week, that’s 30 hours per week just on coaching calls. Which leaves little time for…

  • Ongoing education
  • Your own experiments
  • Your own business growth and admin

I also think it robs the client of a lot of opportunities.

Look, I’m good at growth. Damn good.

But I’m not so arrogant to think I am the be all end all of anything to do with growth.

I have blind spots, I have things where I don’t ave experience.

And when I look at my own education, a lot of the best wins I’ve had have come from communities of peers at my level or one step beyond.

So, I wanted to build GMM where there’s a more scalable model for me to help people grow.

But there’s also a community aspect where people can learn from one another.

So, GMM is about understanding the theory and getting personalised help to scale, but also about connecting with others at your level.

GMM builds that same collaborative environment, but focused entirely on your next growth leap.

The bigger picture

The future of growth is AI + community.

Ai to help you create what’s needed to be created.

An expert led community to help you understand WHY you need to do things and get feedback where the AI is deficient.

You need better tools, better frameworks, and better people around you.

That’s why GM+ and GMM exist, to give you the systems, the AI assets, and the support you need to scale without burning out or wasting years guessing.

I’ve broken everything down for you, how it works, what you get, and how to choose the right path based on where you are today.

Email subscriber JP emailed me with the below question in response to an email I sent about the old method of turning cold leads into high-ticket clients being broken. Dear Peter,Sam Ovens later admitted his old way was broken. But what do you think of the model of Russ Ruffino? Is that still working today? How does it differ from your model? Thanks and God bless. I responded with this (I try to respond to all emails I receive). I’m not super familiar with Russ’s model. From a quick search it...

Saw something the other day where someone was saying webinars and $5k clients are the only way to grow your biz moving forward. And look, both of those things are great. You need high-ticket clients to be profitable Webinars can be a great way to build the trust needed to sell high ticket Thing is, the whole concept of throwing cold traffic (people who don’t know you) to a weoinar and that being enough for them to drop $5k+ with you doesn;t work anymore. Sure, it used to work when credit was...
